How to use BeClevr

Each feature explains where to find it and what to tap. Search, or pick a topic in the list.

Get started

Create an account and sign in

Your account holds the budget, postings and settings. You can use email or Google.

Where. Log in and Sign up in the menu.

How to

  1. Choose Sign up, enter email and password, and accept the terms.
  2. Open the email and confirm the account. You cannot sign in before that. The page can send the link again.
  3. Sign in with email or Continue with Google. Apple appears only when it is switched on.
  4. If you forgot the password, choose Forgot password, open the link and set a new one.

The first time you open the app

BeClevr asks how you want to start: connect a bank, import a file, or skip and type it in yourself.

Where. The dialog shows the first time. Later it is under Settings → Show the introduction again.

How to

  1. Choose Connect bank to fetch postings with MitID. Choose Import file if you already have an export.
  2. Skip closes the intro when you have no bank data yet. You can import or connect later.
  3. Once there are postings, the overview shows a short tour: tabs, the chart, categories and how to edit a posting. Close it when you are done.

Profile

Name, username and photo. The email cannot be changed here.

Where. Profile in the menu, or your name at the top.

How to

  1. Enter your name and save. It shows in the menu and in the household.
  2. A username is 3–20 characters: lowercase letters, digits and underscore. The page tells you if it is taken.
  3. Upload a photo (jpg or png). Remove it if you want initials again.

Plus

Without a bank, BeClevr is free. Plus is the bank connection and the household. The price is not set yet. Budgets, import, receipts, subscriptions and AI are free.

Where. Settings → Billing. The Get Plus button goes to the same place.

How to

  1. During beta, access is open without payment. The page does not show a price until it is set.
  2. When the price is ready, choose monthly or yearly and follow the payment. MobilePay appears only when it is open.
  3. Invoices and cancellation are on the same page once you already have Plus.

Overview

Expense overview

Your main picture. Three bars show money in, spending and savings. Under the chart you see the selected period, the split and the postings.

Where. Expense overview in the menu. The tabs are Overview, Expenses, Income and Savings.

How to

  1. Switch between week, month and year, and tap a bar. The period under the chart follows.
  2. If you have several accounts, pick the account. The choice follows you to Income and Savings.
  3. Bank shows what the bank sent. Archive shows file import and what you typed in. The switch sits by the tabs on larger screens.
  4. Tap a group to filter. Tap a leaf to open the list. Back goes one level at a time.
  5. On a phone, Overview shows income and spending side by side. The other tabs show one number.

Income

Shows where the money comes from, grouped by sender. Moves between your own accounts do not count.

Where. The Income tab under the expense overview.

How to

  1. Pick the period and account, as on the overview. The total is the same as the green bar.
  2. Salary and other real income sit under the sources. Internal transfers have their own section.
  3. Open a row to change the category. A refund in a spending category belongs under Expenses, not here.

Savings overview

The blue bar is money set aside: a transfer to a savings account, or a savings category such as pension, child savings or securities.

Where. The Savings tab under the expense overview.

How to

  1. Compare the bar with the list. They should show the same postings. With no savings in the period there is no blue bar.
  2. A transfer to the savings account may still be labelled account transfer. It shows here as other savings.
  3. If you set another category yourself, it stays. BeClevr does not guess it back to savings.

Budgets

One budget per month with income, spending and savings, when the bank is not connected. With a bank you use the expense overview instead.

Where. My budget and My budgets in the menu. They hide once a bank is connected.

How to

  1. Create a budget for the month. Enter income, and add expenses with name, amount, category and date.
  2. Edit or delete a row on the overview. The numbers update straight away.
  3. On My budgets you can change month and make a copy, so next month starts from the same lines.

Compare budgets

Puts two months next to each other so you can see what moved.

Where. Compare in the menu. The item hides once a bank is connected. Then you compare periods in the expense overview.

How to

  1. Pick the two months.
  2. Read the difference on totals and categories. An empty month stays empty. That is not an error.

Compare with others

An anonymous average of what other people spend in the same category. There are no names and no emails. The number appears once at least eight people have the category.

Where. The card How others spend, under the bars on the expense overview.

How to

  1. Pick a month in the chart. The open month is not part of your number. Yours is the average of the three full months before.
  2. Green means you are under the average. Brown means you are over.
  3. The numbers are a guide. BeClevr is new, and a category with few people shows nothing.

Assistant

A dashboard with balance, the week’s spending, accounts, recent postings and whether the money lasts until payday.

Where. Assistant in the menu. It needs an active bank connection.

How to

  1. Read the bank card and the week chart. The chart is Monday to Sunday and sums that week’s spending per day.
  2. Tap a day, a posting or an update. A budget alert opens your goals.
  3. On a computer you can move the cards. The layout is remembered next time.

Will the money last until payday?

Estimates the balance until the next payday from a typical day of spending and the bills BeClevr already knows.

Where. The card at the bottom of the Assistant.

How to

  1. Read the expected balance before payday, and the date under the number.
  2. Dots on the curve are known payment days. Hover a dot to see the name and amount.
  3. Only accounts included in the budget count. An account you switched off is not included.

Accounts

Every connected account with its balance, grouped so the salary account and savings are easy to tell apart.

Where. Accounts in the menu.

How to

  1. Tap an account to see balance, chart and postings. The chart can show 30, 90, 180 or 365 days.
  2. Tap a posting to open the same detail as on the expenses page.
  3. A shared account shows who owns it. You can read it. Sync still runs only for the owner.

Transfers between your own accounts

Money that moves between your own accounts is not spending and not income. It is shown so you can see where it went.

Where. Under Selected period on the expense overview, and as the Transfers chip on the expense list.

How to

  1. Find the amount under transfers in the selected period. It is not inside the spending or income total.
  2. Use the Transfers chip when you only want those moves.
  3. If it is actually salary or a bill, open the posting and pick the right category. Your choice stays.

Salary rollover

Salary from the 16th through the end of the month can count toward next month’s income. The bank posting itself does not move. Child benefit and SU do not roll.

Where. Settings → Rollover.

How to

  1. Turn rollover on or off. The choice follows the account, also if you open BeClevr on another computer.
  2. With rollover on: look at the income bar in the month after a late salary. It can sit there.
  3. Off: income follows the bank’s date.

Postings

Automatic categorisation

New postings get a category straight away. If you change it, BeClevr remembers the choice for that shop. Your own choice wins over a guess.

Where. On any posting in the expense list, on accounts and in the assistant.

How to

  1. Open the posting and tap the category under the amount, or choose Change category under the pencil.
  2. Search for the leaf, for example groceries or rent, and tap it. It saves straight away.
  3. Unknown postings gather under Uncategorised. The chip on the expenses page shows how many are left, so you can work through them.
  4. Approve shows on shops. It locks the category. A transfer has no Approve, because it is not a shop.

Notes

A note on the posting, so you remember what it was the next time you see it.

Where. Open the posting and choose Add note under the pencil.

How to

  1. Write the note and save.
  2. Find it again with the search at the top. The note is included, together with the shop name.

Favourites

Star a posting you want to recognise later. It does not change the amount.

Where. Open the posting and choose Favourite under the pencil.

How to

  1. Tap Favourite. The star fills in.
  2. Tap Remove favourite when you no longer need it marked.

Find similar postings

Jumps to other postings with the same shop or the same text.

Where. On the posting detail: Find similar postings.

How to

  1. Open a posting and choose Find similar postings.
  2. You land on the expense list with the search filled in, so the similar rows sit together.

Your own date

Set the date the posting should count on, if the bank’s date is not the one you want to see.

Where. Open the posting and choose Change date under the pencil.

How to

  1. Pick the date and save.
  2. The overview uses your date. The bank’s original date is not deleted in the details.

Split

Splits one payment into several categories. The list shows one row per part, with the same name.

Where. Open the posting and choose Split under the pencil.

How to

  1. Share the amount so the parts add up to the original. Give each part a category.
  2. A spending part counts as spending. A savings part counts as savings.
  3. Remove split gathers it into one row again.

Extraordinary postings

Takes the amount out of charts and totals without changing the category. Use it for something that is not everyday spending, for example a one-off you do not want in the month.

Where. On the row: Mark as extraordinary. The Extraordinary chip shows them afterwards.

How to

  1. Open the list and tap Mark as extraordinary on the posting.
  2. The category stays. The amount is out of spending, income and savings.
  3. Find it again on the Extraordinary chip, on the tab the posting belongs to. Switch it off if it should count again.

Category rules

Rules of the kind “this text is always this category”. They appear when you correct or approve a shop.

Where. Settings → Category rules.

How to

  1. Correct a shop on a posting. The rule shows up on the page.
  2. Change the category on the rule if the next posting with the same text should land somewhere else.
  3. Delete the rule if you no longer want it. Postings you already corrected keep their category.

Edit several postings

Set the same category on several postings at once, or approve them together.

Where. The expense list → Select several. On a computer you can also use Shift or Ctrl and click.

How to

  1. Mark the rows and pick the category. It saves on every selected row.
  2. Approve locks the shops so they train your next guess. Transfers in the selection do not become a shop rule.
  3. If one row fails, the others continue, and you are told that something was missing.

Category limits

A monthly cap on a category. The bar shows how much of the cap you have used in the selected period.

Where. On the category row in the expense overview.

How to

  1. Open the category and set an amount. It is stored in kroner and shown in your currency.
  2. If you are over, the bar makes it obvious, and the bell can show an alert.
  3. Change or remove the cap in the same place. It applies to both bank and archive.

Bank, import and bills

Bank connection

Fetches accounts and postings with MitID. BeClevr categorises them and keeps them up to date. If you disconnect, the history stays.

Where. Settings → Bank, or Connect bank in the empty state.

How to

  1. Start the connection and approve with MitID. Stay on the page while the percent runs. You move on when the postings are in.
  2. Afterwards you land on the expense overview. If you cancel, you end on the bank page.
  3. Sync on the bank page when you want the latest. Your own categories stay.
  4. Switch an account off in the budget if it should not be in the numbers. Sync does not change that choice.
  5. Disconnect when you want to stop. The postings remain. Connect the same bank again and it continues, instead of starting over as a duplicate.

Import from a file

Brings CSV, Excel or a Spiir export in as archive. The file stays on your computer. Only the rows you choose are saved.

Where. Settings → Import from file, or Import file when the overview is empty.

How to

  1. Choose the file. The preview shows date, text, amount and category. æ, ø and å should be readable.
  2. Rows that already exist are marked and switched off. Switch them on if you still want them.
  3. Fix uncertain categories in the Does this look right step, or skip it. One fix hits every row with the same text.
  4. After import, the expense overview opens in Archive.
  5. The whole import can be removed again under Settings, without touching postings from another import.

Receipts

A photo of the receipt fills in amount, shop and date. For online shopping or a printed return date, BeClevr can remind you before the deadline.

Where. Receipts in the menu. On the phone also Scan.

How to

  1. Upload a picture, or take a photo in the app. The picture must be under 10 MB.
  2. Correct the fields if something was read wrong, and save.
  3. Add it to expenses if it should be in the budget. A return deadline shows only when the receipt has one.

Recurring payments

Subscriptions such as streaming and fitness, and fixed bills such as rent, insurance and loans. The monthly number counts both. A yearly amount is not spread out as a monthly figure.

Where. Recurring payments in the menu.

How to

  1. Add name, amount, next date and category. Choose whether it is a subscription or a fixed bill.
  2. Tap the row to edit category, note and reminder. The category can also be written onto the matching postings.
  3. Pause takes it out of the active numbers. Mark as paid moves the next date. Undo puts the date back if the button is shown.
  4. Delete it when it no longer exists.

Calendar

The payment dates in a month. The week starts on Monday when the language is Danish.

Where. The calendar on Recurring payments.

How to

  1. Go a month forward or back.
  2. Tap a day with a payment to open it. Tap an empty day to add one.
  3. Upcoming renewals are the next seven days in a list of their own. That list is not the calendar itself.

Discover recurring payments

Finds repeated charges in the bank. Nothing is added until you say yes.

Where. Discover from bank on Recurring payments. Needs a bank.

How to

  1. Run the search. Read the list. Groceries and fuel are filtered out when the AI filter is included.
  2. Tick the ones you want to keep, and add them. The amount is what the bank charged.

Reminders

A notice before a recurring payment, and when you get close to a budget or a category limit.

Where. On the individual recurring payment, and under Settings → Notifications.

How to

  1. Open the payment and turn the reminder on. Turn it off on another one if that one should stay quiet.
  2. Turn notifications off under Settings if you do not want notices at all.

Savings goals

A goal you fill yourself, like an envelope. It is not the same as the blue bar that comes from the bank.

Where. Goals in the menu.

How to

  1. Create a goal with a name and an amount.
  2. Add a deposit when you have set money aside. Progress shows how close you are.
  3. With a bank you can also see a simple budget at the top: last year’s spending spread across categories. Edit an amount, or set an alert. If the month goes over, it shows up in the assistant.

Account, AI and the app

Household

Share accounts and budgets with a partner. You each have your own account and your own MitID. The other person can read what you share, but cannot sync your bank.

Where. Settings → Household.

How to

  1. Create the household and copy the code, or send it by email. The code is in the subject and at the top of the email.
  2. Your partner signs in on their own account and joins with the code.
  3. Switch on the accounts and budgets that may be seen. The others stay private.
  4. After MitID you can also be asked which accounts to share. Not now remembers that per account.

Excel and PDF

Take the numbers out of the app. The report from the expense overview is the whole period: income, spending, savings, result and account transfers. A separate export fetches everything the account has stored.

Where. Export on the expense overview, Reports in the menu, and Settings → Export data.

How to

  1. Pick the period on the overview and download Excel or PDF. The file follows the period, also if the button sits on Expenses.
  2. Reports is the same kind of file gathered in one place.
  3. Export data under Settings fetches what the account has stored, not just one month.

Notifications

The bell gathers what has happened: income, spending, postings that still need a category, and when you hit a limit.

Where. The bell at the top right.

How to

  1. Open the bell. New items sit at the top, earlier ones below.
  2. Tap a row to open the posting or the page. Clear removes the group.
  3. The red number resets when you open the bell. It comes back when something new happens.

Light and dark theme

Change the appearance. The log-in and sign-up pages stay light, even when the rest is dark.

Where. Settings → Appearance. On a phone also under More.

How to

  1. Choose light, dark or same as the system.
  2. Reload. The choice stays.

Language and currency

Danish, English, Norwegian and Swedish. Amounts are stored in kroner and shown in the currency you choose. Switch back and the original amount is still there.

Where. Settings. The search on the page finds the row if you type language or currency.

How to

  1. Choose a language. Danish uses Danish addresses. English, Norwegian and Swedish use the English addresses.
  2. Choose a currency and look at a posting you know. The figure is converted for display.
  3. Set Danish and kroner again when you are done trying it.

Sync across your devices

Postings, categories and notes live on the account. Open the same account in another browser and they are there.

Where. Sign in with the same account.

How to

  1. Change a category or a note in one place.
  2. Open BeClevr in the other place and reload. The change is there.
  3. Language and theme can be stored on the device. The numbers themselves follow the account.

Two-step verification

A code from your authenticator app, on top of the password.

Where. Settings → Data and security.

How to

  1. Turn it on, scan the QR code and enter the code from the app.
  2. The next time you sign in, the code comes before the numbers. A wrong code does not let you in.
  3. If you cannot open the authenticator app, email support from that screen. Turn it off again while you are signed in if you no longer want it.

Passkey

Sign in without a password on beclevr.dk, with the key the browser or the phone stores.

Where. Settings → Data and security, and the button on the log-in page.

How to

  1. Add a passkey while you are signed in on mit.beclevr.dk or www.beclevr.dk.
  2. Sign out and choose the passkey on the log-in page. The browser asks, and you are in.
  3. If you cancel the window, nothing else happens. A key from the website cannot be used as the same key in the Android app.

Idle time on the web

After the time you choose, an overlay covers the numbers. You have one minute to stay, otherwise you are signed out. On Android the app lock is used instead.

Where. Settings → Data and security.

How to

  1. Choose 5, 10 or 15 minutes, or turn it off.
  2. When the overlay appears, tap Stay on the page. It needs a click. Moving the mouse does not count.
  3. The overlay waits while you are in the middle of MitID or a file import.

Delete account

Deletes the account and what is stored on it. It cannot be undone here afterwards.

Where. Settings → Delete account.

How to

  1. Read what will be deleted.
  2. Type SLET if the language is Danish, or DELETE in English, and confirm.
  3. You are signed out. The same email cannot sign in again.

The Android app

The phone

The same account and the same numbers as on the web, with a bottom menu, scan and a lock on the phone.

Where. The BeClevr Android app.

How to

  1. Sign in with the same account. Postings and categories are the ones you already have on the web.
  2. The bottom menu is Assistant, Accounts, Spending, Scan and More. Recurring payments live under More.
  3. Back closes an open sheet before it leaves the page. During MitID, back is locked so the connection is not cancelled by accident.

Home screen widgets

Android only

Budget, balance and what you can safely spend today, without opening the app. They exist only when the bank is connected.

Where. Android: press and hold the home screen and add a BeClevr widget.

How to

  1. Connect the bank in the app. Without a bank the widget cannot be added.
  2. Add the widget you want to see. The amount is formatted the way you chose language and currency in the app.
  3. The account widget changes account when you tap it.

App lock

Android only

Locks the app with fingerprint, face or the phone’s PIN when you open it, and when it has been in the background.

Where. Android: Settings → Data and security.

How to

  1. Turn the lock on. The phone asks first, so you know it works.
  2. Close the app, wait, and open it again. The lock comes before the numbers.
  3. If you cancel the prompt, that is not an error. On the web, idle time covers the numbers instead.
